I have a slowly expanding collection of orchids and decided that I had to many to keep in separate pots for watering purposes. I was spending more time watering them than enjoying them. So I threw some pots specifically for them, these are loosely based on the Victorian orchid clay pot with holes around the base.

When the orchid has finished flowering it can be banished to the spare room as a mass of green leaves and left there until it flowers again.

The pots I make are large enough to hold more than one orchid so you can a selection of the same or different species flowering at different times and the pots themselves are hopefully more decorative, complementing the plants rather than drawing the eye from them.

Watering is usually on a weekly or bi-weekly basis immersing the whole pot to soak the compost then draining and placing on a small mat or coaster so the shelf or table is not damaged.
